Research

There are two main kinds of research, clinical and basic. Clinical research is the kind that involves people. Basic research is the kind that is done in a laboratory with animals, cells growing in a dish, and test tubes. Both kinds of research are essential in the search for a cure.

Doctors and researchers around the world have become increasingly aware that the search for a cure will require cooperation. This cooperation is of vital important for Lesch-Nyhan disease, because it is so rare. The International Lesch-Nyhan Disease Study Group was recently established to aid in this effort. It now has doctors and researchers from 8 countries across the world, and growing. If you would like to know more about this group and how to help, please contact the authors.
